Lance Savali is one of New Zealand’s most famous dancers and choreographers, having worked with everyone from Jennifer Lopez and Chris Brown to Rihanna.

But the Kiwi performer had an awkward run-in with Madonna years ago after the Queen of Pop decided not to hire him because of his star sign.

Lance told the Herald Sun he made it down to the final 20 participants in an audition when Madge started to question him about being a Scorpio.

‘But Scorpios in New Zealand are different, right?’ she asked him.

Confused by the question, Lance replied: ‘To be honest, I have no idea. I’m just gonna say yes.’

According to the choreographer, his response did not give Madonna the clarity she was after.

‘She apparently couldn’t read my energy,’ he explained. ‘I was too mysterious for her and she got rid of me.’

Thankfully, Lance’s career has gone from strength to strength since getting dumped by Madonna.

In 2020, he danced with Jennifer Lopez as part of her Super Bowl halftime show.

The 30-year-old has thrived despite suffering from a serious heart condition.

‘It’s a challenge I face every day and it’s taken a real toll on my life,’ he previously told Woman’s Day.

‘I was born with a heart condition called SVT or supraventricular tachycardia, which meant that if I overexerted myself, my heart went up to 240 beats per minute and I thought I was going to pass out or die. I’d sort of short-circuited,’ he continued.

I’d be on stage with Chris Brown or Rihanna and it would happen all the time. I’d think I might die, but I had to be professional so the crowd didn’t know, then I’d get off stage, get it back into rhythm and go back on stage!’
