Ulrika Johnson accuses Alexandra Burke of ‘attention seeking’ for keeping her baby’s gender private

Ulrika Jonsson has accused Alexandra Burke of ‘attention seeking’ for not revealing the gender of her newborn baby.

The X-factor star gave birth to her first child with footballer fiancé Darren Randolph, 35, in July, previously explaining that she will remain tight-lipped on the sex of the child as she believes ‘her family didn’t ask for fame’ .

But disagreeing, TV personality Ulrika blasted that the star ‘shouldn’t play the fame game’ if she wanted to protect her children while writing in her recent column.

Taking to her The Sun column, Ulrika recalled Alexandra ‘happily posing’ for pictures and speaking in interviews throughout the years, before showing off her bump during the pregnancy.

She penned: ‘The public clearly have an interest in her and her private life. That’s the deal we make with hunger.

And I’m pretty sure her partner and child have, and will continue to, enjoy the fruits of her celebrity labor. I cannot understand how declaring whether she’s had a girl or a boy would in any way compromise her beloved child.’

The former model continued that people who ‘bump into her at the supermarket’ will know the gender, as she explained her opinion that not revealing the sex attracts ‘far more attention’, suggesting this was the point.

Despite appearing alongside Alexandra on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, Ulrika still had some bones to pick with the songstress.

‘Announcing you’re pregnant and then shutting the door of access to your life for those who have hitherto cared about your journey, supported you or are just plain nosey, isn’t on,’ she continued.

It comes as Alexandra broke down in tears over the decision whilst appearing on Monday’s episode of Loose Women.

She told the panel: ‘I come from X Factor which is public and gave me a platform. In the process I asked for this but my family never…’

Composing herself after crying, she added: ‘The impact on them is hard and they never asked for it. I want to protect the baby and make its own decision.

‘When I spoke to my friend I said, “I don’t want to hurt anyone.” My mum would say it’s the wise thing to do.’

The Elephant songstress went on to claim she is the ‘happiest she’s ever been’ while joking that ‘sleep is a thing of the past’.
